What MorCapital Is
MorCapital Advisors is a buyer-side acquisition advisory firm. That distinction matters. We represent buyers — not sellers, not brokers, not lenders. Our analysis is independent of the transaction and we have no financial incentive tied to whether a deal closes.
Most acquisition advisory firms are brokers who help sellers find buyers. MorCapital does the opposite. We help buyers evaluate whether a specific business is worth buying, at what price, and on what terms — before capital is committed.
Why MorCapital Exists
Small business acquisitions under $3M are a category where independent buyer-side analysis is almost entirely absent. Business brokers represent sellers. SBA lenders represent their own credit quality interests. Accountants can review financials but don't provide acquisition strategy. Attorneys can draft agreements but don't evaluate deal economics.
The buyer in a small business acquisition is almost always the least sophisticated party at the table — and the one with the most to lose. MorCapital exists to close that gap.
About Colton Mortag
Colton Mortag founded MorCapital Advisors based on direct operator experience across multiple business types — a craft distillery taken from TTB compliance through distribution, a hospitality venue built from zero, and a live short-term rental co-hosting operation. That operational background produces acquisition analysis that goes beyond the financial statements to evaluate what a business actually requires to operate and what it's actually worth to a new owner.
Colton holds active real estate licenses in both Illinois and Colorado. For acquisitions that include real property, licensed real estate representation is available as part of the Deal Through engagement.
MorCapital Advisors is one of several operating companies under MorLife Holdings LLC. Other ventures include MorOps (operations consulting), MorTag Homes (Chicago real estate), MorDenver (Colorado real estate), and MorHaven Stays (STR co-hosting).

What MorCapital Is Not
MorCapital Advisors is not a business brokerage. We do not list businesses for sale, represent sellers, or collect commissions from transactions. We are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice. We are not an accounting firm and do not provide tax advice or auditing services.
MorCapital provides independent acquisition advisory analysis for buyers. Complex transactions should always involve a qualified acquisition attorney and CPA.
About — Frequently Asked Questions
No. MorCapital is a buyer-side acquisition advisory firm. Colton Mortag holds an active Illinois real estate broker license, which enables real estate representation for deals involving real property. Business acquisition advisory is provided as an independent advisory service.
Business brokers represent sellers. Their fee is typically a percentage of the sale price, which creates an incentive to close deals at the highest possible price. MorCapital represents buyers only, with a flat fee structure that creates no incentive tied to closing or not closing any specific deal.
